Managing Director

Bolux Group is a wholly owned Botswana based subsidiary of the NMI Group. The NMI Group consists of a portfolio of investments comprising four decentralized holding companies (one each in Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique), mainly active in the following sectors: wheat and maize milling, pasta, biscuits, sugar, rice, Animal feed and poultry.

The managing director who is responsible for the executive management of the Bolux Group will report to the Chairman of the Bolux Group Board. The Board will oversee governance as well as company and management performance. The Bolux Group consists of a manufacturing unit in Ramotswa and a Depot in Francistown supplying maize meal, flour and pasta to the local and export markets.

The incumbent will be based in Ramotswa, Botswana.
Key responsibilities
• Provide leadership and management to the Bolux Group by formulating strategies to generate shareholder value.
• To lead growth, value adding and transformation
• Ensure recruitment, retention and development of effective, motivated and passionate employees.
• Set and strive to exceed financial and operational targets, manage and review performance objectives
• Identify key risks and ensure that strategies are in place to manage these risks.
• Maintain good corporate governance by complying with ethical business practices and international trends and ensure compliance to all legislation
• Develop and maintain sound business and working relationships with all key stakeholders in and outside of the NMI Group
• To manage and oversee the major upgrading of the wheat Mill
Experience and qualifications
• At least 5 years MD experience in the FMCG industry
• A milling background in sales,distribution,key account management in the FMCG arena
• Experience in and a sound track record of growing businesses
• A formal university degree is essential. An MBA will be an added advantage
Knowledge and skills requirements
• An experienced manager of people ; being tough and demanding in respect of performance standards
• Be skilled in managing and leading the overall commercial performance of a company of R500m turnover.
• Full value chain understanding and experience in the grain milling business
• Experience and a good understanding of the key drivers in the commercial sales and marketing side of FMCG food products.
• Experience in building and managing relationships with wholesale and retail trade successfully
• Ability and experience to create a performance culture
• Experience to work constructively with government departments
• With the assistance of the board develop and implement a new strategic sustainable direction for Bolux
• A proven ability to manage change successfully in order to create a healthy organization
• Experience to work with a board of directors as the executive on the board
• Strong communication skills are required
